Start with suitability
Confirm the food is formulated for the correct species and life stage. Puppies, kittens, adults and senior pets can have different nutritional requirements.
Read the complete ingredient list
Ingredients are usually listed by weight. Use the list to identify protein sources and ingredients your pet must avoid, but do not judge quality from one ingredient alone.
Compare using the feeding guide
Package size and price do not tell the full cost. Compare recommended daily portions for your pet’s current weight and activity level.
Know when to ask a veterinarian
Seek veterinary advice for allergies, recurring digestive issues, medical diets, unexplained weight changes or any condition requiring diagnosis or treatment.
